Will the alarm sound if the tab is in the background?
Yes in most desktop browsers. Some mobile browsers throttle background tabs aggressively, so on phones keep the tab in the foreground for reliable alarms.
Why is there no sound?
Browsers require a user interaction before playing audio. Since you press Start, sound is normally allowed — check the tab is not muted (right-click the tab).
Does the timer keep counting if I close the page?
No, it runs in the page. Keep the tab open (backgrounded is fine) until the alarm fires.
